What does Elseway actually do?
When you open an app you've chosen to intercept (like TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube), Elseway slides in a short feed of your own memories, drawn from your camera roll. After a few seconds you choose: continue into the app, or move on. It's not a blocker, it's something else.
Which apps can it intercept?
TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Elseway watches the app itself: when you open one you've chosen, it steps in. You pick which apps are on, and how often interception happens.
Why does it need permissions like Accessibility or Screen Time?
On Android, the accessibility service is how Elseway notices when a watched app comes to the foreground, so it can step in. On iPhone, Elseway uses Apple's Screen Time permission to do the same thing. Either way it never reads your messages, text, images, or keystrokes. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Does Elseway collect any of my data?
No accounts, no ads, and no servers of our own. Everything that matters (your settings, your stats, your photos) stays on your device, and uninstalling deletes all of it. The only thing that leaves your device is anonymous product-usage analytics (for example, that a feed was opened), with no identity attached and nothing that can be traced back to you. Read the full privacy policy.
Will it use my own photos?
Yes, that's the whole feed. If you grant photo access, Elseway builds the feed entirely from your own camera-roll photos, shown one at a time on your device. Your photos are never uploaded or copied anywhere. Decline the permission and your library is never read (the feed just has fewer cards).
How do I uninstall it?
Uninstall it like any other app from your phone's settings. Doing so removes Elseway and everything it stored. There's nothing left behind on any server, because there are no servers.
